Music Monday – Amy, Student

The song I Hope you Dance by Lee Ann Womack has always been one of my favourite songs. In 2015, I actually got the title of the song tattooed on my arm. This song was dedicated to Lee Ann’s children and is all about hope for a brighter future. The song talks about opportunities the future will hold and the hope that people will be open to taking chances.

The writer of the song has some very powerful lyrics that have always spoken to me. The chorus says, “I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean, whenever one door closes I hope one more open, promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance, and if you get the choice to sit it out or dance, I hope you dance.” This speaks volumes to me and reminds me that when I am faced with new opportunities, I shouldn’t sit back, I should take those chances.
